Police in Ntchisi are looking for unknown people suspected to have murdered a 35-year-old woman, Tiuze Lungu, on Wednesday.

Ntchisi Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha told The Nation Lungu was murdered at Njolo Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Chikho in the district.

M’bumpha said Lungu met her fate when she had gone to her maize garden with her two-year-old son.

“Lungu went to water her maize garden which is about three kilometres from her house to water her maize,” he said.

M’bumpha said the deceased’s brother, whose garden is also in the area, found the two-year-old son alone and crying, something that prompted him to search for the mother.

“The deceased’s brother informed villagers who teamed up to look for the missing woman until they found the body near Chinenje River,” M’bumpha said.

He said the body had three deep cuts in the head.

Lungu came from Ndendele Village, T/A Chikho in Ntchisi.
